Learning - Competence - Performance

Thinking of competence management limited to employees and optimisation of working processes, definitely underestimates its range of performance.

Today competence management becomes more and more important since it provides solutions to main challenges of companies.

Established in an effective and efficient way, competence management...

  • supports innovation processes,
  • helps to prevent and compensate shortage of skilled labour,
  • takes account of demographic problems,
  • enables quick and effective implementation of companies' strategies,
  • is the fundament of all HR related decisions.

Competence management is crucial for accomplishing these company challenges successfully and systematically. Thereby the most important aspect is the support of strategic decision processes in companies.

Often it is unrecognised that strategic decisions can only be made on the basis of company competences. In the future the decision security of strategic alignments will increasingly be determined by given competences or competences, which need to be developed.

Social megatrends as the demographic change and the increasing globalisation will increase the demand of competence management significantly. Shortage of skilled labour, decreasing product life cycles and therefore higher innovation dynamics or enhancing productivity are the central fields, which are relevant in this context. Competence management provides answers and solutions to problems and helps to identify and develop performance potentials within companies.

Especially in times of economic boom foundation must be laid, which helps to set you apart and maintain your competitive advantage.

These current developments and topics are the subject of the international Professional Training Facts conference which takes place on 18th and 19th of October 2011 and is organised by Fraunhofer IAO for the seventh time in succession. The conference offers practitioners and developers a forum for the exchange of information and experiences from organisational and personnel development.
